Plans to build nine homes in a village near Sudbury have been submitted.

Phil Cobbold Planning Ltd has submitted the proposals on behalf of the applicants to Babergh District Council.

If given the go-ahead, the new homes will be built in a plot of land off Sudbury Road in Newton.

The plans show that eight of the homes will be two-bedroom properties and one will be a three-bedroom property.

One of the two-bedroom properties will be an affordable home, the planning document states.

According to the design and access statement submitted with the application, "the development would meet the social role of sustainable development by providing a range of new family homes including an affordable home in an area where there is a general demand for more housing".

It continues: "The layout of the development has been sensitively and carefully designed to ensure an acceptable relationship between the proposed dwellings and the existing properties adjacent to the site.

"The layout provides a satisfactory level of amenity space for each dwelling together with adequate car parking in accordance with the Highway Authority’s Suffolk parking guidelines."
