A COUNTYWIDE community health campaign encouraging people to give up smoking and lose weight, was launched in Sudbury yesterday.
The Live Well Suffolk scheme offers practical support via a range of free fitness classes and clinics, run by community health coaches. Deputy mayor Jack Owen, who gave up smoking in his early thirties and now goes to the gym three times a week, is supporting the campaign.
Live Well director Tim Roberts said smoking-related disease was the biggest cause of deaths in the county, adding: “The idea of Live Well is not to force people to make changes but to provide information and motivation.” Visit www.livewellsuffolk.org.uk for information.
