Craig Skipp completes four marathons in twp days - in memory of mum Julie Skipp. Finishing at Headway Bury St Edmund treated by family, friends and Headway staff.

Completing the equivalent of four marathons in just two days proved no problem for Craig Skipp, who was inspired to take on the challenge in memory of his mother.

The Thetford Academy teacher ran and cycled 122 miles to raise money for the charity Headway, which provided help to his mum Julie over a 10-year period after she suffered a brain injury following a fall at home.

The challenging distance represented the number of miles from Mrs Skipp’s birthplace in Surrey to Headways Suffolk’s Neuro Hub in Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Last December, to mark the anniversary of her death, Mr Skipp did the equivalent of a half marathon in 1hr 25min and raised more than £1,500 for the charity.

This time around, he ran more than 50 miles around Bury and cycled 60 miles on an exercise bike during a 48-hour period.

So far he has managed to raise more than £1,225 of his £2,000 target.

Mr Skipp said: “The event is for a worthy cause, ensuring that mum stays deep in our thoughts, and supporting a charity that gave her many happy memories.”

Headway Suffolk offers advice, support services and rehabilitation to anyone over the age of 16 with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. To donate to the cause, go to virginmoneygiving.com/CraigSkipp
