Ambulance staff are urging drivers to take care on the roads amid the heavy rain that is forecast for Suffolk and Essex.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust tweeted a message to motorists this morning.

“Please take care on the roads this morning if you are experiencing heavy rain.

“There will be a lot of surface water on the roads making them slippy.

“Allow extra braking distance and be aware of spray on our faster roads.”

It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain and thunderstorms across Eastern regions.

Up to 60mm of rain could fall in parts of East Anglia during the heaviest downpours.
