Watch: Rain expected for the weekend across East Anglia caused by Atlantic jet stream

PUBLISHED: 07:30 04 October 2018

The Met Office have issued weather updates after a “meandering jet stream” began to form over the Atlantic this week.

The stream of rain has been running from East to West but today a northerly flow of cold air could cause it to buckle.

The buckling of the stream will have a knock-on affect causing weather systems to develop.

One such system will develop over the UK as the week comes to an end.

This will lead to a band of rain moving south on Friday with the stream covering much of southern England and Wales at the beginning of the weekend.

Whilst East Anglia is likely to avoid the deluge and experience highs of 19C on Saturday, later in the day things will go downhill.

Saturday evening, and heading into Sunday, will see the Atlantic jet stream cover East Anglia, bringing with it some typical Autumn rain.

Some computer generated models show that the stream will remain across much of Suffolk and Essex heading into next week.

If it does we are likely to see more rain and colder temperatures.

Stay tuned for more weather updates.
