‘I’m committed to plugging Cabinet leaks’ - Michael Gove at a water treatment works

PUBLISHED: 09:00 08 September 2018

Michael Gove has been listening out for leaks - but this time not from the Cabinet.

The Environment Minister visited Anglian Water’s Gazeley Water Treatment Works, near Newmarket, yesterday to learn about leak detection, location and repairs.

He was offered the chance to put his ear to a listening device to see if he had the knack for leak detection.

Cabinet ministers recently agreed to stop leaking damaging stories after Prime Minister Theresa May told them they needed to “show strength and unity as a country and that starts around the Cabinet table”.

Mr Gove said: “I’m totally committed to plugging any cabinet leaks we can find and I think the number of leaks we have seen under Labour, which was a huge amount, is significantly greater than the number of leaks under the coalition and now that we have a Conservative-led Government leaks have disappeared almost entirely.

“I have never known a more united cabinet”
