Money raised from a fete on the outskirts of Sudbury has been donated to a woodland charity which helps people with illnesses and learning difficulties.

The first ever Ballingdon Fete, which was held in September, raised £2,000 for the Eden Rose Coppice and organisers would like to bring the event back in 2019.

Highlights at the fete included a toy sheep throwing competition, a dog show, live music, a belly dancing routine and a chance for children to try out their football skills with AFC Sudbury.

Andy Message, fete chairman, said: “We have decided that, subject to permission, we would like to bring the event back in 2019. We have had such great feedback on how it went.

“I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored, supported and helped on the day, and everyone who came along to make it such a great event.

“The fete was established to do two things, raise money for a local cause and to bring the community together. I’m delighted to say we achieved both.”
