Officers are appealing for witnesses after an assault took place in Sudbury over the bank holiday weekend.

The incident took place on Melford Road in the town, on Monday 28 May between 7.30pm and 8.15pm.

The victim, a man in his 50s, reported that he was walking home when he was stopped by a man who pushed him to the ground and then assaulted him by kicking him in the face.

The suspect then fled the scene.

A member of the public who was driving past stopped to see if the victim was hurt.

Police are keen to speak to the driver as they may have information that could assist the investigation.

As a result of the incident, the victim sustained a broken nose and facial bruising.

Witnesses or anybody with any information regarding the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 29688/18.
