POLE-DANCING is rapidly growing in popularity and is proving a hit with slimmers wanting to lose a few pounds in the New Year, according to an instructor in west Suffolk.
Catherine Dachtler, who runs Little Sapphires Pole Dance and Sports School, coaching about 50 people each week in Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, says the activity, which involves dance and gymnastic moves on and around a metal pole has many physical and mental benefits.
Far from being an activity women carry out for men’s pleasure, she says pole-dancing empowers the women who do it. She is organising a “pole factor” competition to be held in Sudbury. Call 07522789801 for details.
