MORE than 100 people are expected to attend a bumper celebration being held to mark the end of an innovative year-long fundraising campaign.
The Spirit of Sudbury Campaign was launched in March 2011 with the aim of raising £10,000 for Helping Hands – a charity that raises money for the Sudbury Resource Centre, which supports adults with learning disabilities.
In a bid to ensure the campaign reaches its target, organisers have decided to hold a bumper party as a final fundraising activity and to say thank you to all who have supported the campaign.
Sudbury singer and song writer Abbie Broom will be performing live at the party, and will be joined by local band Tall Order. It is hoped a third band will soon be added to the line-up.
An auction of promises, which organisers are hoping will be supported by a host of celebrities, sports stars and local businesses and dignitaries, is also to be held as part of the celebrations.
Marion Corner, manager at the resource centre, said: “We want this party to be a celebration of the special community spirit which exists in Sudbury.”
The party is being held at AFC Sudbury’s MEL Group Stadium, starting at 7pm, on Saturday, March 31.
Tickets cost £12.50 a person and are available from the Sudbury Resource Centre, on the Chilton Industrial Estate. Payment can also be made by calling the centre on 01787 296088.
