Toddler in a ‘serious condition’ following an incident in Barking this morning

A three-year-old child who had to be airlifted to hospital from Barking, near Needham Market, is said to be in a “serious condition”.

Paramedics, an air ambulance and police cars were reported near Barking Preschool this morning and police have now confirmed that a small child had to be taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a helicopter.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “A three-year-old girl has been involved in an incident in Barking, near Ipswich.

“Police received a report from the ambulance service at just before 10am and she was taken by air ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where she remains at this time in a serious condition.

“Next of kin are aware and investigations into the incident are on-going but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.”

It is not known if the child was a pupil at the preschool.

A spokesperson from East Anglia Air Ambulance said: “We were called to Barking this morning at 9.52am.”

An East of England Ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a child involved in an incident in Barking, near Ipswich.

“Two ambulances, two ambulance officers and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene to treat one patient. The patient was taken to hospital in a serious condition.”
