AFC Sudbury manager Mark Morsley has said he will do things his way, as he searches to find the perfect formula for his Bostik North side.

Sudbury travel to Ware tomorrow afternoon, with Morsley looking for just his second league, at the fifth attempt, since his return to King’s Marsh Stadium last month.

With players having exited and young players being given their opportunity, Morsley is confident his team have more than enough about them not to worry about relegation. Instead he is letting his young academy players know this is their chance to impress.

Milo Grimes is the latest U18 player to get that chance.

The centre-half starts tomorrow against Ware, with another teenager Panashe Mundawarara, also in the squad.

“I’ve been looking at what we’ve got, trying new systems, some of it has worked, some of it hasn’t,” Morsley said.

“I’m looking closely at a lot of young players to see how much more development and potential they have.

“People say there is a big gap between academy players and the first team, but is there? I don’t think it is as big as some people think.

“The trouble is that if an older player has a bad game it’s because he’s had ‘one of those days’, whereas a young player it’s because he’s ‘not ready yet’. I don’t think that’s strictly true.”

Morsley knows how to get clubs promoted and while Sudbury’s young academy players are being given a chance to impress, he won’t hesitate to swoop for more experienced players he knows are available.

“We perhaps need to add a bit more to our game,” Morsley said.

“We keep the ball really well on our 3G pitch at King’s Marsh, but away from home it can be a bit different. I’m not worried about the league table (Sudbury currently sit 17th). Our young squad is more than capable of staying in this division.”

Meanwhile, Mildenhall will look to end an up and down week with victory at home to Bowers & Pitsea tomorrow afternoon.

Hall impressively beat King’s Lynn in the FA Trophy last Saturday, before being thrashed 5-1 by Waltham Abbey in the league on Tuesday.

Rather worringly for Dean Greygoose’s side they have only won one in seven in Bostik North, they travel to Soham on Tuesday night.
