Sudbury Joggers' big squad at the Colchester Half-Marathon

An impressive squad of more than 50 Sudbury Joggers took part in last Sunday’s Colchester Half-Marathon.

For many of the Joggers it was their first taste of running a half-marathon, and there were many personal bests as well for the 13.1-mile challenge, which started from the Weston Homes Community Stadium, the home of Colchester United FC.

Leading the way home for the Joggers was Kieran Hayles, who finished in an impressive fifth place overall. An in-form Hayles celebrated with a PB of 1hr 16mins 45secs

Hayles was followed home by team-mate Darren Barfield, who registered 1.30.14, and Richard Smith, who stopped the clock at 1.31.17. Following not far behind were fellow Sudbury Joggers’ Adam Mumford (1.31.44), Kallum Breward (1.32.41) Jamie Fittock (1.34.26), Mark Salisbury (1.36.03), Matthew Benson (1.36.25), Gary Godfrey (1.38.16) and Aaron Noble (1.39.52).

Just outside the 100-minute mark were Kieron Savage (1.40.05), Anthony Harris (1.41.31), Jason Smith (1.41.43) ,Tom Codling (1.44.15) and Ian Bareham (1.45.51).

Other male finishers from the Sudbury club included Simon Elliott (1.51.26), Chris Howard (1.54.23), Brian Bloomfield (2.02.22), Oisin Kelly (2.02.47), Dave Chapman (2.02.56), Ian St Ledger (2.12.53), Paul Press (2.15.45) and Carl Cooper (2.32.27).

Meanwhile, the first lady home for the Joggers was Emma Barrowclough, who recorded a time of 1.35.58. She was pursued by Sally-Ann Bowen (1.39.59) and Dee St Ledger (1.50.15).

Other Sudbury ladies to the fore included Jessica Goudkull (1.54.42), Tina Gore (1.59.02), Laura Birch (2.00.22), Karen Wood (2.03.52), Geraldine Clifford (2.03.52), Laura Gore (2.03.52), Julie Marsh (2.06.10) and Emma Ruane (2.06.14).

There was then a gap to the next Joggers’ trio, featuring Andrea Hunt (2.15.11), Sian Guyton (2.15.13) and Michelle Holland (2.15.14), followed by Melonie Evans (2.20.01), Lindsay Hobden (2.20.03), Jennifer Merry (2.22.15), Hannah St Ledger (2.23.08), Ann Alexander (2.23.52) and Zoey Battell (2.25.15).

Also in action were Bianca Burman (2.26.55), Sally Sandford (2.26.56), Sandy Maloy (2.28.08), Sharon Breward (2.31.05), Claire Rooke (2.30.49), Sam Couldridge (2.35.41), Natalie Jones (2.41.03) and Sue Moye (2.52.35).

Also last weekend, the Joggers duo of Jim Coomber and Gin Lawson completed the Thaxted Trail Marathon.
