Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy could give a number of fringe players and youngsters the chance to impress at already-relegated Rotherham United on Saturday.

With the Blues safe from relegation with three games to go, McCarthy could consider fielding the likes of Danny Rowe, Kieffer Moore, Dominic Samuel, Andre Dozzell, Paul Digby and Trystan Nydam for the clash in South Yorkshire.

He will, however, revert to his strongest line-up for next Saturday’s home game against play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday and the final game of the campaign at relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

“I will change the team for Rotherham,” McCarthy told the official Club website.

“I want to see a couple of players come in and see if they can make a challenge for their position.

“We’ve got Sheffield Wednesday here and I want to win that with a full strength team, hopefully playing like we did against Burton and Newcastle.

“We’re going to Nottingham Forest on the last day and looking at how things are going, there could be something riding on that.

“If that’s the case I won’t mess around with the team for that either.

“I think I have to respect the integrity of it all, I shouldn’t turn up with a team I wouldn’t normally pick and suddenly get slapped if it affects the top six or bottom three.”

  • What intelligence from this master manager Micky boy, he is outstanding in his understanding of whats required for other teams in the league. ITFC really have to have to get this Master of technical abilites etc signed up for another 5 year term in management with ITFC and his compatriot trainer. All you fans stop whinging about these two brilliant men and realise what you have, next season with a few more master strokes of signing other teams dud players and turning them into great players like he has many times this season ITFC will be in the play offs in 2018.
