With dozens of music fans arriving in the early hours on Saturday, at Compact Music in Sudbury, the fifth annual Record Store Day for the shop proved a big hit.

The first dedicated customer started queuing at 3am, in order to be first in line for a range of one-off vinyls, printed to be sold only through independent music shops.

Shop-owner James Morgan said: “It was a fantastic day for us and the customers. We tried to make sure everyone got a chance to buy what they wanted by limiting shoppers to two records the first time round.

“There are a lot of rules and regulations to keep in the spirit of Record Store Day, so we thought it would be unfair if the first man in the queue bought out £5,000 of records before anyone else had a chance.”

Next year the shop is planning the return of the Record Store Day concert in the church and you can still order in a few remaining exclusive records from the day.
