A road closure will be in place to fix a flooded road that has sparked concerns with Suffolk villagers.

Borley Road in Long Melford is prone to flooding during winter months and periods of heavy rainfall.

The road has been left submerged for a number of months and now a number of large potholes have emerged.

Last month Suffolk Highways announced they planned to attend the road and fix the issue.

Now a road closure will be in place from 9am until 4.30pm between Monday, February 12 until Friday, February 16, while urgent roadworks are carried out.

Residents of the village expressed their concerns over the state of the road.

John Nunn, who is a part of Long Melford Parish Council, said: "Suffolk County Council has allowed this to go on for so long that the road has deteriorated into a terrible state and people have contacted me who have had burst tyres due to the potholes."
