A Suffolk beer has been named one of the best in the country at a national awards.

Mauldons Brewery's Suffolk Pride took home bronze in the Best British Bitter at the SIBA Independent Beer Awards at BeerX in Liverpool on March 14.

The full-bodied, strong bitter was one of a number of gold winners from regional awards entered into the running for the national title.

Charlie Buckle, managing director of Nedging Hall Estate, which owns Mauldons, said: “I am immensely proud of the team at Mauldons Brewery.

"This award is recognition of the hard work that goes in to producing a delicious pint of Suffolk Pride.

"I am also proud of Suffolk, the wonderful heritage, hospitality and countryside that we are so lucky to enjoy every day – so to win with a beer named after the county is brilliant”.

The beer was one of hundreds that were entered in the event, in what was a record year for entries.

Anneli Baxter, SIBA competitions chair, added: "It is incredibly tough to win a category Gold at a regional level, so to then go on and be named amongst the very best in the whole of the UK at the National Awards is a massive achievement that these brewers should be hugely proud of.
