Police are appealing for witnesses after ornaments were stolen from a woman's home during a distraction burglary in west Suffolk.

Between 10.30am and 11.30am on Tuesday, March 19 the victim saw a man looking around in the front garden of her home in William Blake Court, Haverhill.

When confronted, he claimed to be checking the drainage and the electricity supply and mentioned working for the council.

The suspect managed to enter the home under false pretences saying he needed to check something inside.

He is described as white, aged between 50 and 60 years old, over 5ft 7ins tall, clean shaven with light-coloured thinning hair and wearing glasses.

The man was wearing a denim jean jacket and had a shoulder bag with a camera inside.
