Plans have been submitted to turn a derelict former pub into a convenience store and drive-thru coffee shop.

The Fox in Little Wratting, near Haverhill, has been empty for more than a decade.

In April 2021, West Suffolk Council approved plans to turn it into a Harvester or Toby Carvery-style pub but was up for sale again two years later by Savills.

Savills said an offer was made on the property less than a week after it was put back on the market.

Under new plans submitted to West Suffolk Council, the pub and surrounding land could be converted into an Asda convenience supermarket.

The proposed plans include "the demolition of existing redundant public house building and construction of new convenience store and coffee shop drive-thru, plus necessary parking."

The plans confirm the supermarket will be owned by Asda, with the addition of the business's logo on supporting documents, but it is not known which coffee shop will operate the drive-thru.

The supermarket runs Asda Express convenience stores, but the application did not specify if the new shop would be branded as such.

The plans are pending consideration and if approved, construction in the area could begin soon after.
