Motorcyclist fighting for his life after collision with three cars

A man has been flown to Royal London Hospital with injuries which are believed to be life-threatening after his motorbike collided with three vehicles.

The A1071 at Newton remains closed following the crash which involved a motorcycle and prompted a huge response from emergency services.

Air and road ambulance, police and fire crews are all at the scene of the collision near the Boxford junction on the A1071, and have confirmed that the motorcyclists injuries are believed to be life-threatening and life-changing.

A Vauxhall, a Mercedes and a Ford Transit Van.

The road was closed for a number of hours both ways from the A134 Assington Road to Trott's Lane.

It was finally re-opened shortly before 4pm.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "We were called at 8.40am to reports of a collision on the A134 from Sudbury heading towards Hadleigh which involves a motorcyle and three other vehicles."

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were also called to reports of the collision which caused a petrol spill and closed the road.

They are on scene carrying out a clean-up operation due to the large amounts of fuel on the ground.

A spokesman said: "We were called to help get the casualty in the care of the ambulance service.

"We are also on the scene conducting a drying service to get rid of the petrol on the roads."
