Choir on song for Hive campaign

SUDBURY HIVE

A fundraising campaign to buy the former United Reformed Church in Sudbury has had an £800 boost from Sudbury Sings.

The choir donated the money to Sudbury Hive from proceeds of their recent summer concert at St Peter's church.

Hive aims to raise £150,000 to buy the former church in School Street to convert into a a multi-use community facility.

It was presented to Hive treasurer Gareth Cole by Sudbury Sings director Martin Blagden at a recent rehearsal.

Gareth said: "A huge thank you to Martin and the Sudbury Sings members for their generosity. Hive is delighted to have this vital support for our project."

Hive is a charity helping community groups through networking opportunities, offering free training courses and the sharing of expertise.

The charity has various grant applications in place but needs to raise funds to be able to bid for the building, which is on the market for £650,000 after closing in 2017.
