A Suffolk university’s partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra gave students a unique experience with the world-renowned musicians.

A total of 10 students from across the country have benefited from the five-day post-graduate masterclass in orchestral recording, led by the University of Suffolk at West Suffolk College.

The students worked with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Dartford as well as the Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra at the Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

Andrea Healey, programme director for music production and creative and commercial music at the University of Suffolk at West Suffolk College, said: “I initiated a recording partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra community and education team in 2013 and now have a wonderful working relationship with them.

“They push innovative boundaries in music education. They allow recordings at venues all over the country as a valuable learning and industry experience for our degree students.”

Lisa Rodio, community and education project manager with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, said: “We are delighted to offer these opportunities to students as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of industry professionals.
