Retailers in Sudbury are being asked to get involved in the “Art About Town” initiative.

The event brings together local businesses with artists from Suffolk Open Studios, a well-established art organisation with more than 100 members spread throughout the county.

Enterprises ranging from coffee shops and hairdressing salons to dental surgeries are invited to exhibit a local artist’s work between May 18 to 30, and allow the public to come to view the work on display. The businesses and artists taking part will also be featured in the free Suffolk Open Studios Directory.

Anyone in Sudbury who is interested in taking part can contact Val Jones by email at All applications must be sent to Suffolk Open Studios by February 21. Sudbury town centre manager Jane Hatton said: “If we can get enough businesses and retailers in Sudbury to take part, then we should see the benefit of bringing new customers into the town.”
